TURKO PARK PLAYGROUND
"Playground" is an installation made from a structure of recycled milk crates. The installation provides flexible seating and visual interest both day and night. At night, LED lights will illuminate the structure in a glowing of white halo. During the day, pedestrians and attendants will be able to relax and take a break form the heat. For the structure, every milk crate that touches the ground will contain a 28lb CMU (concrete masonry unit) or sandbag. All the other milk crates are securely fastened to the bottom ones with a series of industrial strength zip ties. As the crates are porous in nature the wind will not create lift when blowing again the structure, and the significant weight on the bottom crate will prevent lateral forces from pushing it over.
